سوشل میڈیا پر دی جانے والی وضاحتوں میں بار بار یہ تاثر دینے کی کوشش کی جاتی ہے کہ تمام فیصلے “ادارے” نے کیے، مگر سوال یہ ہے کہ وہ ادارہ آخر کس کے کنٹرول میں تھا؟ صوبائی ڈھانچے کیوں تباہ ہوئے؟ باصلاحیت اور ایماندار افراد کیوں ایک ایک کر کے الگ ہوتے چلے گئے؟ اور کیوں آج فیڈریشن ایک قومی ادارے کے بجائے ذاتی جاگیر کا منظر پیش کرتی ہے؟

یہ بھی ایک حقیقت ہے کہ آج حافظ عمران بٹ کی تنہائی محض اتفاق نہیں۔ یہ اُن فیصلوں کا نتیجہ ہے جن میں تجربہ، نصیحت اور خلوص کو نظرانداز کر کے خوشامدیوں اور مفاد پرست عناصر کو قریب رکھا گیا۔ تاریخ گواہ ہے کہ ادارے افراد سے بڑے ہوتے ہیں، اور جب کوئی فرد ادارے کو اپنی ذات کے گرد گھمانا شروع کر دے تو انجام ہمیشہ زوال کی صورت میں نکلتا ہے۔

قیادت کی اصل پہچان اقتدار سے چمٹے رہنا نہیں بلکہ بروقت، باوقار اور ذمہ دارانہ فیصلہ کرنا ہوتی ہے۔ آج پاکستان ویٹ لفٹنگ کو جن اقدامات کی ضرورت ہے، وہ واضح ہیں:
شفاف انتخابات،
ناجائز پابندیوں کا خاتمہ،
میرٹ کی بحالی،
اور نئی، غیر متنازع قیادت کے لیے راستہ ہموار کرنا۔

بصورتِ دیگر تاریخ اُن لوگوں کو کبھی معاف نہیں کرتی جو ذاتی مفادات کی خاطر اداروں کو تباہ کر دیتے ہیں۔

نئے سال اور نئی صبح کے اس موڑ پر، ویٹ لفٹنگ کمیونٹی کے لیے ایک کھلی دعوت ہے کہ 2026 کو بیانات اور وضاحتوں کا نہیں بلکہ اصلاح، احتساب اور ترقی کا سال بنایا جائے۔ انکار کے بجائے اصلاح، ضد کے بجائے دانش، اور اقتدار کے بجائے وقار کا انتخاب ہی اس کھیل اور پاکستان کے قومی وقار کو بچا سکتا ہے۔

In Pakistan, weightlifting has increasingly become a sport where explanations dominate performance, statements overshadow results, and defensive narratives replace genuine reform. In recent months, controversial statements issued on social media by former Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) president Hafiz Imran Butt have once again brought the sport’s prolonged institutional crisis, governance failures, and moral accountability into sharp focus.

What raises serious concern is the fact that an individual who no longer holds any constitutional office continues to justify past decisions and policies as if accountability were optional. A careful review of these statements reveals a recurring pattern: selective truths, contradictory explanations, and a persistent attempt to shift responsibility onto others. This posture reflects not the mindset of a reformer, but rather that of a defendant attempting to defend an increasingly indefensible legacy.

There is no denying that Hafiz Imran Butt was once a national-level weightlifter and benefited from the mentorship and support of senior coaches, officials, and well-wishers of the sport. At one point, the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation was entrusted to him as an amanah—a responsibility meant solely to serve the sport and safeguard the future of athletes. Over time, however, that trust eroded, giving way to personal interests, concentration of power, and systemic lack of transparency.

The consistent sidelining of merit, normalization of favoritism, and constitutional amendments designed not for reform but for prolonging authority are no longer allegations—they are widely acknowledged realities. Distinguished athletes, coaches, and officials who voiced dissent were subjected to unjust and, in some cases, lifetime bans, effectively destroying careers and depriving Pakistan of athletes capable of winning medals at the international level. These decisions were not made in the interest of sport but in the interest of control.

The consequences of this governance model are now evident on the global stage. Pakistan weightlifting has become synonymous with doping scandals, lengthy international suspensions, and heavy financial penalties. This situation did not arise overnight, nor was it accidental. It is the logical outcome of policies where loyalty replaced competence, silence replaced principles, and shortcuts replaced scientific training and development.

Social media defenses frequently attempt to portray these outcomes as “institutional decisions,” yet a fundamental question remains unanswered: Who controlled that institution? Why were provincial structures dismantled? Why were sincere and competent individuals systematically pushed out? And how did a national federation gradually transform into what many now perceive as a personal fiefdom?

Equally important is the growing isolation of Hafiz Imran Butt within the weightlifting community today. This isolation is not coincidental; it is the direct result of decisions where experience, advice, and integrity were ignored in favor of appeasers and vested-interest groups. History consistently demonstrates that institutions are greater than individuals—and when an institution is molded around a single personality, decline becomes inevitable.

True leadership is not defined by clinging to power, but by the ability to make timely, dignified, and responsible decisions.

 Pakistan weightlifting now urgently requires clear corrective measures:

transparent and fair elections,

the removal of unjust bans,

restoration of merit-based systems,

and a clear pathway for credible, non-controversial new leadership.

Failure to undertake these reforms will ensure that history does not look kindly upon those who sacrificed national institutions for personal gain.

At the dawn of a new year, this is an open invitation to the entire weightlifting community to make 2026 a year of reform, accountability, and rebuilding—not of statements and justifications. Choosing reform over denial, wisdom over stubbornness, and dignity over authority is the only path that can restore the sport, protect athletes, and uphold Pakistan’s national honor.
